In 2021, the NIPUN-Bharat programme was launched with a vision to ensure universal literacy and numeracy for Class 3 children by 2026-27.Foundational Literacy and Numeracy is broadly conceptualized as a child’s ability to read basic texts and solve basic maths problems. Foundational Literacy and Numeracy is a necessary foundation and an indispensable prerequisite for all future schooling and lifelong learning.Investment in this phase of a child’s life will lay a strong foundation for lifelong well being and overall growth and development across all physical, cognitive and socioemotional domains.
Proficiency in foundational literacy and numeracy for all children has become a primary national mission for each one of us.
